It's an unofficial rule that when going to Gettysburg, you must visit the battlefields. They represent a unique period in American History and everyone should take the opportunity to refresh their knowledge and learn more about the battles that took place at such a pivotal moment in time. With options of walking tours, bus tours, Segway tours or personal driving tours, there are plenty of ways to see the battlefields and learn about the corresponding history at your own pace.

Speaking of battles and history, many claim that the historic homes and inns around the town are haunted by the ghosts of those that have died in battle. If things that go bump in the night intrigue you, then you're in for a real treat with the various ghost tours and paranormal excursions offered throughout the town of Gettysburg. It's guaranteed to be spook-tacular.

3. Lincoln Train Museum

As parents, you're always trying to make history and learning fun for your kids and the Lincoln Train Museum is here to help you with that goal. This fun, yet informational, destination offers interactive displays that bring President Lincoln to life as he walks you through our nation's history and discusses topics such as the U.S. Presidents, baseball, Hollywood, cowboys and more!

When in Gettysburg, you can do more than just look at the historic buildings, you can dine and stay in them! The Dobbin House is Gettysburg's oldest, most historic home and has been renovated as a colonial restaurant with attached bed and breakfast. They also offer free tours of the property so you can see a behind-the-scenes look at the current restaurant's kitchen as well as antique decorations and furnishings.
